White Desert Rose – A. obesum ‘Kawdokka’

Native region: Africa, Middle East

The Desert Rose is grown as a houseplant in temperate regions. Numerous hybrids have been developed and are appreciated for their colorful flowers and unusual, thick caudices. They can be grown for many years in a pot and are commonly used for bonsai.

 Growing requirements

Light: Full sun
Mature size: 4-5 ft.
Soil: Well-draining cactus mix
Fertilizer: Regularly according to package directions during warm months with a fertilizer low in nitrogen to encourage blooming and a large trunk, do not fertilize during cool months
Water: Regularly in warm months but reduce in cool months
Temperature: 55°F and above
Overwintering: Bring indoors
Repotting: Cut away any dead or rotting roots before repotting, treat cuts with an antibacterial solution. Slightly expose roots to create an interesting trunk shape. Do not water for the first week to reduce chance of infection.
