Hi Adrienne, thank you for your order! Yes creating a frame to tent a larger bag is no problem as long as it is able to maintain high humidity. A couple of leaves still lightly touching shouldn't be a problem either. Thank you again!

Hello! I just received my D. Capensis ‘typical’ and am surprised at how big it is! It's beautiful! I have to admit that I was concerned about the one gallon freezer bag because the leaves were all pressed against against the bag. To make sure the plant has a little more room to stretch, I created a frame using a gallon milk bottle to tent a larger clear plastic bag I got from the LFS over it. Some leaves are still touching the bag a little. Is that OK?

Hi Tim, thank you for your order, great to hear everything arrived safely!

For watering, yes as long as the media is remaining damp during the acclimation process a more regular schedule can be established once it's complete. Tray watering works well for these plants too. Frequency will depend on a lot of environmental factors but aiming to keep the soil damp at all times is best.

Feeding can begin once the sundews have their dew return and the traps on the flytrap are open. If the plants are transitioning to dormancy states (lack of dew or minimal trapping), a diluted foliar spray of Maxsea can be applied every couple of weeks.

Also keep in mind that the D. lanata likes warmth. A heat mat made for seedlings can be beneficial when growing them.

Thank you so much again and we hope you enjoy growing the plants!

I just received my three plants today (Drosera Capillaris, Drosera aff. latana and My fuzzy teeth flytrap) and they are absolutely beautiful and came packaged very well. I followed the instructions on getting them potted and I have them bagged for humidity for the next week or so. From there I have a couple questions.
When do I start the watering process? I assume after acclimation? I know they need to “sit in water” so I should let them sit in a saucer of water? For how long? My last flytrap got root rot due to sitting in water too long so I have some to learn still.
When should feeding start? I know as we get deeper into fall it’ll be hibernation season so possibly little to no food? Fertilizer?
Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated!

Hi Lorry, thank you for your order! We did not get to your message until this morning so hopefully you found a solution, but having the plants sit in the containers they came in for one night is ok.

Hi Kallye, thank you for your order! For butterworts in their carnivorous phase, it is good to keep the media consistently damp. We have a video on watering butterworts in our care guides (link below) that offers some information about frequency and techniques as well. https://curiousplant.com/butterwort-care/

Thank you again!
