Pinguicula gigantea may be the largest Mexican Butterwort discovered reaching up to 12 inches across, though usually it is somewhat smaller in cultivation. P. gigantea is native to Oaxaca, Mexico and was discovered by Alfred Lau in 1987. It was cultivated as P. sp. ‘Ayautla’ until 1995 when it was formally described as P. gigantea by Hans Luhrs. In addition to its size, P. gigantea is unique in that it produces sticky dew on both sides of its leaves. Please see size descriptions below.

Came beautifully.

Bigger than expected. I got a gigantea in the past from somewhere else that shipped too wet and died within days. No such issues here. Happy, decent size, with great coloration. Exceeded my expectations.
