Description

Size and packing method: Small plants are about 1 inch in diameter and large plants are 2-2.5 inches in diameter. Plants are shipped bare root, carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. If selecting with soil mix, you will receive a little over one cup of our prepackaged Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix in addition to the bare root plant. This quantity of soil is roughly enough to fill one 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch square pot.

Growing requirements

Mature size: 3-4 inches in diameter
Light: Partial to full sun or grow light equivalent
Soil: Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, fish food, or diluted foliar fertilizer such as Maxsea every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 50-80% with adequate airflow
Water: While in its carnivorous phase, provide enough distilled water for the media to remain damp. Reduce watering and allow the media to dry out regularly once the succulent rosette begins to form.
Temperature: 55-85°F
Dormancy: Technically none, however carnivorous leaves are replaced by a smaller semi-succulent rosette for part of the year

Planting and adjustment instructions will be included with your shipment.

It was bigger than I thought it was going to be, but that made it perfect to be the centerpiece for my ping rock. It looks very healthy and was packaged really well

Excellent packaging! Nice size plant. The one I received is a fairly large plant but is all green. I hope as it settles in and acclimates to my conditions the color will change to the lovely hues in the sellers photos.

Love my plants , thought they would have a better root system though !!

Hi Richard, thank you for your feedback. If something happened to the plants and they arrived in poor condition, we’re always happy to work with you on replacements. Please keep in mind too that butterworts in general don’t tend to have extensive root systems. You can see an example of this in our butterwort potting video around the 2 minute mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUWkaL2vQ8U.

The Pings you sent were truly spectacular. They were all much bigger than promised. This is my third order from Curious Plants and it won’t be my last.
