Pinguicula ‘Weser’ is a hybrid of P. ehlersiae and P. moranensis. It is similar to P. ‘Sethos’ which is also a hybrid of P. ehlersiae and P. moranensis, the main difference being floral markings. P. ‘Weser’ was registered as a cultivar in 1998 and received its name after a river near the original growers location. The leaves can be anywhere from green to bright pink depending on light intensity. It prefers a loose mineral-based substrate. Please note: Some plants are more green on arrival but will turn pink with time under intense light. See size descriptions below.

Description

Size and packing method: You will receive a bare root plant carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. Medium plants are between 1 and 1.5 inches in diameter and large size plants are about 2 inches in diameter. Currently plants are more green in color due to rapid growth. If selecting with soil mix, you will receive a little over one cup of our prepackaged Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix in addition to the bare root plant. This quantity of soil is roughly enough to fill one 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch square pot.

Growing requirements

Mature size: 2-3 inches in diameter
Light: Partial to full sun or grow light equivalent
Soil: Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix, sand and perlite mix
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, fish food, or diluted foliar fertilizer such as Maxsea every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 50-80% with adequate airflow
Water: While in its carnivorous phase, provide enough distilled water for the media to remain damp. Reduce watering and allow the media to dry out regularly once the succulent rosette begins to form.
Temperature: 55-85°F
Dormancy: Technically none, however carnivorous leaves are replaced by a smaller succulent rosette for part of the year

Planting and adjustment instructions will be included with your shipment.

Some leaves looked like they were roughly handled/ bent, plant looked a bit sad. Was a good size, but i would of preferred a littler plant in better shape over a bigger plant in rougher shape (i also got a ping. esseriana with this guy and it was in excellent shape, seemed like the smaller leaves were less prone to damage from transit). Hopefully it recovers and does well.

I was glad to have directions! I would not have known what to do, or especially how to acclimate the plants otherwise. They perked up almost immediately when I placed them in the medium in pots.
Carnivorous plants are new to my collection, so I am very excited about them! Thank you!
