Venus Flytrap ‘Lips and Lashes’ is a variety somewhat rare in cultivation. The edges of traps on adult plants can begin to turn outward forming what looks like a pair of lips. The long teeth can also give the appearance of eyelashes. The interior of traps turn a deep red under strong light.
Description
Size and packing method: You will receive a bare root plant about 1 inch in diameter, carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. If selecting with soil mix, you will receive two cups of our prepackaged Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix in addition to the bare root plant. This quantity of soil is roughly enough to fill one 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch square pot.
Growing requirements
Mature size: About 3 inches in diameter
Light: Full sun
Soil: Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix, pure peat, or peat-sand mix
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, or fish food every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 50-80%
Water: Keep soil damp at all times, provide water that is low in salts and minerals such as rain or distilled water
Temperature: 65-82°F during warm months, 32-55°F during cool months
Dormancy: Reduce temperatures to 32-55°F, shorten light periods to 10 hours, and provide less water (but don’t allow to dry out). Keep the plant in dormancy conditions for 3-5 months.
