Cephalotus follicularis (a.k.a. the Australian or Albany Pitcher Plant) is native to the coastal area of southwestern Australia. The first known reference to the plant is from a diary entry by botanist, Robert Brown, in 1802. The carnivorous pitchers of C. follicularis utilize several tactics for trapping and retaining prey, including semi-transparent “windows” in the lid, bright coloration, nectar, a toothed peristome, and slippery inner walls to name a few. In addition to the carnivorous pitchers, C. follicularis also produces flat, non-carnivorous leaves.

Plant came with a good number of mature pitchers. Some were looking rough when it arrived but that’s to be expected when it ships to 110F weather. The Cephalotus has since acclimated to indoor growing and is starting to color up nicely and put out new healthy growth. Can’t wait for it to get bigger. I have purchased several other plants from Curious and they have all been excellent.

It’s been almost two months since I received my Cephalotus. As others have mentioned, the packaging is amazing. No worries about a squished plant. Shipping was fast too. This is one of my favorite plants! It has so many pitchers, it actually looks like it might be two or three clumps. I’m extremely pleased with my ceph. Thank you!

I received a little Cephalotus, expertly packaged, within 2 days of it having been shipped. It had a bunch of masking tape to hold the soil down. Then that was covered with a little 2 oz sauce cup over the plant and a bunch more plastic mailing tape to hold it all in place. This was legitimately one of the best packaging techniques I’ve ever gotten from a shipped plant. You couldn’t even tell it had left the greenhouse. 10/10 will definitely buy again.

I have received two separate orders from these guys and they are outstanding! My first order contained a cephalotus and a nepenthes hookeriana and they were just wonderful! I loved them so much I ended up ordering more cephalotus, more nepenthes, and a heliamphora. Love all of my plants and they arrived in superb quality!
