Cephalotus follicularis (a.k.a. the Australian or Albany Pitcher Plant) is native to the coastal area of southwestern Australia. The first known reference to the plant is from a diary entry by botanist, Robert Brown, in 1802. The carnivorous pitchers of C. follicularis utilize several tactics for trapping and retaining prey, including semi-transparent “windows” in the lid, bright coloration, nectar, a toothed peristome, and slippery inner walls to name a few. In addition to the carnivorous pitchers, C. follicularis also produces flat, non-carnivorous leaves.

It was a lot smaller than I expected, which isn’t really a big deal. I’m just glad it got all the way to CA healthy! It was packaged really well when I got it. It’s still going through an adjustment period right now. Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase! I definitely recommend!👍

Wow! This plant is beautiful and much larger than I was expecting. Usually when I order plants online I’m disappointed with the size, but this is great. Plant I got was size large. Color is also a lot better than many cephalotus I see for sale online. Packaging was good and there was no damage to the plant. Can’t wait to get this thing acclimated and out of the plastic bag :)

Larger than I expected, and had healthy pitchers. Was packaged safely and seems to have acclimated well. Will purchase from here again.
