Cephalotus follicularis (a.k.a. the Australian or Albany Pitcher Plant) is native to the coastal area of southwestern Australia. The first known reference to the plant is from a diary entry by botanist, Robert Brown, in 1802. The carnivorous pitchers of C. follicularis utilize several tactics for trapping and retaining prey, including semi-transparent “windows” in the lid, bright coloration, nectar, a toothed peristome, and slippery inner walls to name a few. In addition to the carnivorous pitchers, C. follicularis also produces flat, non-carnivorous leaves.

I was having a hard time finding a cephalotus plant that was in stock from a nursery that I trusted. My plant arrived in great condition, and I haven’t lost any pitchers due to transit or acclimation. The pitchers were also larger than I expected, so I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. This is my second order, and all plants have been healthy and are thriving. Highly recommend!

Like everyone else said, these folks go above and beyond to produce excellent quality specimens. Mine arrived perfectly packaged and wrapped, it’s beautiful! The plant is bigger than they described. I’ve ordered from another company before, trust me when I tell you, this Australian Pitcher plant is sooo much better for a cheaper price. I’m a new fan!
    Thanks folks!
