We thought it was time to give this in-house butterwort hybrid a name since it is so striking. Say hello to Pinguicula ‘Anemone’! It is a cross of P. moctezumae and P. gypsicola and can grow to up to 8 inches across. The leaves develop a blushed hue under strong light while the flowers are an intense pinkish purple. P. ‘Anemone’ prefers a loose substrate that drains easily. Please see size descriptions below.
Description
Size and packing method: You will receive a bare root plant about 1.5 inches in diameter carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. If selecting with soil mix, you will receive a little over one cup of our prepackaged Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix in addition to the bare root plant. This quantity of soil is roughly enough to fill one 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch square pot.
Growing requirements
Mature size: Up to 8 inches in diameter
Light: Partial to full sun or grow light equivalent
Soil: Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, fish food, or diluted foliar fertilizer such as Maxsea every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 50-80% with adequate airflow
Water: While in its carnivorous phase, provide enough distilled water for the media to remain damp. Reduce watering and allow the media to dry out regularly once the succulent rosette begins to form.
Temperature: 55-85°F
Dormancy: Technically none, however carnivorous leaves are replaced by a smaller succulent rosette for part of the year

I ordered 9 pings from CuriousPlant and this was by far my unexpected favorite. It was wrapped up in a damp towel much like how a Christmas tree is, so that when it was unwrapped it gave a beautiful show of stretching out. It was so stunning in fact that I wrapped it back up to show my partner. This ping arrived big, about 4″ across and in great health. Anemone is the perfect name for it as it looks like it was grabbed straight out of the ocean!
