Pinguicula cyclosecta is a Mexican Butterwort native to a small area between Nuevo León and Tamaulipas. When grown under intense light, P. cyclosecta is recognized by its beautiful purple leaves. Clone B tends to develop a deeper shade of purple on more of the leaf surface vs. clone A which develops color concentrated at the edges. Please note: Some plants may be greener on arrival but will turn more purple with time under intense light.

Note: We began offering clone B on 9/10/2025 while clone A is what we have offered the past several years. We assigned letters to both to differentiate the two.

Description

Size and packing method: You will receive a bare root plant in its carnivorous state about 1 inch across or a plant in its dormant state about 0.5 inches across. Currently most plants in their dormant state. The plant will be carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. If selecting with soil mix, you will receive a little over one cup of our prepackaged Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix in addition to the bare root plant. I’ve had these for about 2 weeks now. They are thriving very well under my grow lights.

I was skeptical about ordering plants online but they did not disappoint. I will be definitely be ordering more plants from here!
