Pinguicula macrophylla is a rather unusual species of butterwort native to Guanajuato, Mexico. It produces large oval carnivorous leaves at the end of long stalks (petioles) in the summer and during winter, grows a bulb-like bud of dormant leaves. Pinguicula macrophylla prefers a well draining mineral-based substrate and partially shaded conditions. Please note: Plants may ship in either their carnivorous or succulent phase, please see size information below.

My shipment of plants arrived a day early and in amazing condition. The P. macrophylla came in while dormant, but the bulb is nearly half and inch across and the new leaves are becoming carnivorous. Excited to watch it grow!

I was very excited for this one, but it was gangly and losing leaves when it arrived. Hopefully it bounces back.

We’re sorry to hear this, it sounds like the plant had a rough time during shipping and we’d be happy to work with you on a replacement.
