Pinguicula ‘Sethos’ is a hybrid of P. ehlersiae and P. moranensis. It is similar to P. ‘Weser’ which is also a hybrid of P. ehlersiae and P. moranensis, the main difference being floral markings. P. ‘Sethos’ was registered as a cultivar in 1998. It is thought to have received its name after an Egyptian pharaoh. The leaves can be anywhere from green to bright pink depending on light intensity. It prefers a loose mineral-based substrate. Please note: Some plants are more green on arrival but will turn pink with time under intense light. See size descriptions below.

Description

Size and packing method: You will receive a bare root plant carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. Medium plants are between 1 and 1.5 inches in diameter and large size plants are about 2 inches in diameter. If selecting with soil mix, you will receive a little over one cup of our prepackaged Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix in addition to the bare root plant. This quantity of soil is roughly enough to fill one 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch square pot.

Growing requirements

Mature size: 2-3 inches in diameter
Light: Partial to full sun or grow light equivalent
Soil: Mexican Butterwort Potting Mix, sand and perlite mix
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, fish food, or diluted foliar fertilizer such as Maxsea every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 50-80% with adequate airflow
Water: While in its carnivorous phase, provide enough distilled water for the media to remain damp. Reduce watering and allow the media to dry out regularly once the succulent rosette begins to form.
Temperature: 55-85°F
Dormancy: Technically none, however carnivorous leaves are replaced by a smaller succulent rosette for part of the year

Planting and adjustment instructions will be included with your shipment.

Packed very carefully and looked just like the photo, only a little greener as described for their current stock.

I have been wanting one of these for a while. This is a nice sized rosette; I look forward to it developing more pink undertones.

Paperwork didn’t include instructions for recommended sunlight and were very cinched yo in packaging. Hoping they will do well and blossom.

The plant is just like the picture. Really pretty.

  7. Joseph M. (verified owner)

Very nice specimen, however I wasn’t aware you have the ‘with or without’ soil mix. READ THE DIRECTIONS

I ordered 4 pings and this Sethos was definitely one of my favorites. The center is a soft lime green and the outer part of the leaves are a bb pink. It was also larger than expected, apx 2in.

They were all packaged very well. They came in condiment cups wrapped gently in damp paper towel with the lid taped on. They even put one of those plastic identifier stakes on the lid of each one.

Overall I am very pleased and would be happy to order from them again
