Pinguicula immaculata is native to the state of Nuevo León in Mexico where it can be found growing in arid regions on walls of gypsum next to agave. In cultivation, the plant does well in a mineral-based substrate that drains easily. Although it’s one of the smallest Mexican butterwort species, P. immaculata can be quite striking under strong light with its hairy green center and red leaf edges. Alexander Lux discovered the plant in 1990 and formally described it two years later with Sergio Zamudio.

This little guy arrived in -2 degree weather in Minneapolis and was in perfect shape! Just arrived a couple of days ago and it’s already producing dew and is starting to push out a flower. This is one of the only places that I’ll order plants from in the winter. I haven’t had an issue with any cold damage at all yet, and I’ve placed a few separate orders in the winter time. Very impressed with their packaging and their healthy, happy plants!
