This particular variety of Drosera capensis is known for its pink coloration when exposed to high intensity light and for growing much bigger than the average Cape Sundew, hence the name ‘Big Pink’. It is easy to care for and may produce plantlets as it grows. The leaves are covered with tentacles (trichomes) that secrete a sticky “dew” to attract and catch prey.

So much bigger than I expected! It arrived well-packaged and recovered beautifully. I saw hints of dew on some of the youngest leaves by nightfall the first day, and now just a few days later the leaves have fully unfurled and it’s positively sparkling from head to toe. Everytime I try to reach something near or behind it, it bestows me with very generous and sticky sundew kisses, no matter how hard I try to avoid it. The color is lovely and I look forward to seeing how much larger this king of capensis will get.

Wow, my Big Pink just arrived! I signed up for mail tracking; it shipped on Monday and arrived just afternoon on Wednesday. It seems to be in EXCELLENT condition and is much bigger than I expected, roughly 6″ in diameter. The soil I purchased along with the plant was exactly enough to fill the 4″ diameter pot I used. I’m glad I watched the video on planting bare root plants as the instructions said since this is my first carnivorous plant ever. It went just fine but would have been a nerve-racking experience if I hadn’t. Very happy, so thank you!
