Drosera falconeri is a member of the Petiolaris Complex and native to the Northern Territory of Australia. Its large traps lay flat on the ground, occasionally folding in half when the plant catches prey. With its traps folded, the plant can look similar in appearance to the Venus Flytrap. D. falconeri was discovered around in 1980 by Mr. Falconer and later described in 1984. Unlike other members of the Petiolaris Complex, D. falconeri is known to grow in alkaline soils with a pH as high as 8. However, it can tolerate acidic soils as well.
Description
Size and packing method: You will receive a plant about 1 inch in diameter. Bare root plants will be carefully wrapped in a damp paper towel. Potted specimens come in a 2 inch pot and will be packed securely to prevent dislodgement during shipping.
Growing requirements
Light: Full sun or grow light equivalent
Mature size: About 3 inches in diameter
Soil: Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix, pure peat, peat-sand mix, or long-fiber sphagnum
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, fish food, or diluted foliar fertilizer such as Maxsea every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 35-75%
Water: Keep wet at all times during the active growing season, provide water that is low in salts and minerals such as rain or distilled water
Temperature: 45-90°F with hotter temperatures preferred, this species prefers warm roots so a heat mat may also be beneficial
Dormancy: Leaves may die back significantly during dormancy. Trigger dormancy by reducing the length of the photoperiod for about 3 months. Reduce watering at this time and only feed if there is dew on remaining traps.
Planting and adjustment instructions will be included with your shipment.

I was so excited about this Falconeri! It’s been on my wish list for a while, but the one I received I thought was going to die. It was huge—over 3″ rosette and lots of leaves and new buds. But, the heat pack seemed to have failed in transit. It was very cold upon arrival. Within days, it’s got dew everywhere, the buds are almost leaves, and it’s almost ready to transition away from the plastic bag. I AM very excited about this plant. So robust!

This one was very healthy compare to my first one, which didn’t make it. Over all your plants are shipped and packaged the best and I am very pleased with your plants.

Thank you for your review! Sundews can look a little scraggly after shipping sometimes but should settle in after a few days. If you have any troubles with it though, please let us know. We’re happy to help!
