Sarracenia oreophila is the most endangered of all American pitcher plant species. It is known to exist at only a handful of sites in North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama but several efforts are underway to preserve these populations and prevent total extinction. S. oreophila differs from other Sarracenia species in that pitcher form primarily in spring and early summer. By midsummer, the pitchers are replaced by curved phyllodia (non-carnivorous leaves). Adapted to mountain conditions, S. oreophila can survive brief temperature drops down to 0°F. It is also known for its ability to add vigor to offspring when hybridized with other Sarracenia species.
Please Note: Due to its critically endangered status, we can only offer S. oreophila to customers in the state of Ohio.

It was delivered exactly as pictured to my amazement, even though most sarracenia would be dormant at this time of year. Highly, highly recommend.
