Drosera capensis ‘Beet’ is a Cape sundew that earned its nickname from the deep red color it develops in strong light. In order to propagate these, a friend and fellow grower provided us with a few offspring from her own plant (a.k.a. Momma Beet). Cape sundews are easy to care for making them a good plant for beginners. Please note: Some plants may be more green than others on arrival but will turn red with time under strong light.

I ordered two different plants, and since the weather is getting colder I added the heat pack and did 2-day shipping. Both plants arrived safely, healthy looking, and the heat pack was still warm! I followed the directions for acclimation after I potted them, and they are now near my other two carnivorous plants. Once acclimated I plan to place them in a different spot with a brighter grow light so they can hopefully get nice and colorful (arrived green).

Also, just want to say that the sellers are great at quickly answering any emailed questions. I’m very happy with the Curious Plant carnivorous plant nursery!
