Drosera capensis, or the Cape Sundew, is a carnivorous plant species forming linear leaves up to 2.5 inches long. It is easy to care for and and may produce plantlets as it grows. The leaves are covered with tentacles (trichomes) that secrete a sticky “dew” to attract and catch prey. The dew also contains enzymes that aid in digestion. Once a leaf traps prey, the bug’s movements trigger the leaf to curl up, introducing more dew and enzymes. Eventually, the plant absorbs all of the nutrients in the bug leaving only the external skeleton.

Great plant. It catches all the gnats from my succulents lying around so I’m thrilled.

I ordered 3 bare-root plants and they arrived very well-packaged and healthy. I followed the included instructions (including the video) and the plants didn’t even seem to suffer shock: they had dew on their leaves the next day and already caught a few bugs.
Thank you Elizabeth for excellent service!

Also, a very nice specimen. Please realize you have the option when ordering, ‘with or without’ soil. For me it was too late, mine has expired.

This one was bigger than I was expecting. Thank you! She’s gotten new traps and lots of dew in the last 12 days. Great careful packaging. I can’t wait to order more.

This plant came larger than expected and totally vibrant. It’s already snagging fruit flies.
