Drosera micrantha is a pygmy sundew native to southwestern Australia. It produces scapes of small white flowers. Hot dry summers will cause D. micrantha to go dormant. Active growth resumes in the fall when moisture increases and temperatures return to moderate levels. During this time, D. micrantha produces several modified leaves called gemmae. The gemmae are spring-loaded by small hairs which cause them to burst out of the plant when struck by raindrops. After landing, the gemmae quickly grow into new plants.
Description
Size and packing method: Plants come potted in 2 inch pots. Each pot contains 2-3 plants. Pygmy sundews are small, this species reaches a maximum of about 0.5 inches across when mature.
Growing requirements
Mature size: 0.5 inches in diameter
Light: Full sun or grow light equivalent
Soil: Carnivorous Plant Soil Mix, pure peat or peat-sand mix
Feeding: Feed bugs, dried bloodworms, or fish food every 2-3 weeks
Humidity: 50-75%
Water: Keep soil wet during active growth and slightly damp during summer dormancy, provide water that is low in salts and minerals such as rain or distilled water
Temperature: 40-90°F
Dormancy: If kept consistently wet, most pygmy sundews grow well year round and don’t require a dormant period. However, watering less in the summer can help induce dormancy. Shortening the photoperiod in the fall will encourage gemmae production.
Planting and adjustment instructions will be included with your shipment.

Part of my second order from Curious Plants, won’t be my last. Beautiful jewel of a plant, carefully packaged, arrived without any damage at all. Followed directions to acclimatize, and 10 days on this beauty is … thriving? Hard to say because it’s my first pygmy drosera. It looks about the same as when I unpacked it perhaps with a little more dew, so that’s good. I have much to learn about sundews!
